Basotho cuisine features African traditions and British influence. Lesotho is surrounded by South Africa and it shares culinary practices with its neighbour. Lesotho’s food culture features potato, seafood, rice and vegetables. Maize-based dishes include “mealie pap”, a maize porridge.

A national favourite is steamed bread.

Mogodu (tripe) is a delicacy to be tried. Ensure, however that no short-cuts are taken in the cleaning process!
