From 1960 to 1995, Nigeria has spent over $61 billion to support the end of apartheid. According to the South African Institute of International Affairs, no other country in the world has done more. Nigeria utilized every possible opportunity to denounce apartheid. From the boycotting of the Olympic and Commonwealth Games to the nationalization of British Petroleum assets. Despite the volatile nature of its own politics and the passage of numerous military and civil leaders, Nigeria never abandoned its unwavering commitment to the freedom of South Africa and South Africans.
